Novated lease FAQs

You can take your vehicle to be serviced at most major manufacturer franchises. We recommend that you take your vehicle to a franchised dealer for your make/model of vehicle during your warranty period to ensure your warranty remains valid under the manufacturer’s terms and conditions. Refer to your manufacturer vehicle servicing handbook for more information.

Yes, if your lease includes registration renewals. When you receive your renewal notice for payment, you’ll need to log in to your Fleetintelligence account and submit a request for payment to be made by SG Fleet (provided sufficient funds are available at the time of your request).  

If your lease does not include annual renewals, you will still receive an email from SG Fleet to remind you to pay your registration renewal when it falls due.

The residual value is the amount that remains owing on the car at the end of the lease contract, including GST. Minimum residual values are set by the ATO (Australian Tax Office).

Once the term of the lease has expired, you’ll need to pay the residual value directly to the financier. You also have the option to re-finance the lease for a further term.

If you are leaving your employer, please call us as soon as possible so we can discuss the following options available to you:

1. Re-novate the vehicle with your new employer, if your new employer’s salary packaging allows you to do so. You’ll need to sign a new novation agreement with your new employer and fleet provider to continue to manage your novated lease.
2. If your new employer’s salary packaging arrangements do not allow you to renovate, you can continue to make lease payments directly to the financier as a direct debit until the lease ends or until you wish to pay out the vehicle. The lease term remains the same and your residual amount will still be due at the end of the lease. Under this option, all your running costs will be at your own expense and paid for separately.
3. Pay out the vehicle lease and take ownership of the vehicle. You can request a payout figure, which will be emailed to you within three business days.
4. If your lease has insurance providing protection in the event of involuntary redundancy, please call our insurance team on 1300 001 087. Conditions will apply as per your original Product Disclosure Statement (PDS).
